Spinal Decompression Therapy
Spinal Decompression Therapy is an all-natural, non-invasive treatment that offers lasting relief from back pain. It works by gently stretching the spine in order to create more space between spinal vertebrae, relieving pressure on the discs. This reduces compression on nerves, which in turn reduces pain and inflammation.
At Total Wellness Solutions, we use Spinal Decompression Therapy to help patients recover from spinal injuries such as bulging discs, herniated discs, degenerative disc disease, sciatica, facet syndrome, spondylosis arm and leg pain and even failed back surgery.
With proper spinal care and decompression therapy, the spinal discs have their best chance of re-hydrating and receiving nutrients to fully heal, alleviating pain and bringing them back to their normal state. Spinal decompression treatment by itself usually takes 15-30 minutes; however, it may take several sessions before patients begin to notice results.
How Treatment Works
During Spinal Decompression Therapy, patients are fully clothed and encouraged to wear comfortable clothing. Our chiropractor will fit you with a specialized harness around your pelvis and trunk area as you lie down on the decompression table. Once properly harnessed in, we will operate the computer which controls the angle and spacing of the decompression table to meet your recovery needs.
Treatment may last up to 30 minutes, and you may require 20 to 30 treatments over a four-to-eight-week period. Each patient’s needs are unique; therefore, each patient will have a custom treatment plan to guide their recovery and healing.
As a part of Spinal Decompression Therapy, patients may also undergo other complimentary treatments, such as:

Meet the Chiropractor
Dr. Melissa Arnold is a licensed, board-certified Chiropractor with 20+ years' experience in the health care industry. Dr. Arnold graduated from the world-renowned Life Chiropractic College in 1998. Her career began as a Licensed Massage Therapist after graduating from the Connecticut Center for Massage Therapy in 1992. She quickly felt divinely inspired to become a Chiropractor to better serve her clientele of elite, professional cyclists and triathletes.
Over the years Dr. Melissa has continued to work on various professional athletes in the NFL, NBA, PGA, and MLB as well as those in the film industry, including professional stunt persons. Taking care of families is a top priority in her practice located in Sandy Springs, Georgia.
